7,500 farmers get agri-inputs in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR: Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) distributed agriculture incentives among 7,500 farmers in all seven upazilas of the district for cultivating Aman paddy.

Aiming to increase food production, DAE distributed seeds and fertiliser free of cost under the incentive programme among the farmers.

Of the total, 5000 farmers got Aman seeds of high breed variety and 2500 farmers got seeds of high yielding variety for cultivating one bigha of land each.

Each farmer got two-kilogram of AZ-7006 variety seed, 20-kilogram Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10-kilogram Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer for cultivating high breed variety of Aman paddy.

On the other hand, each farmer got 5-kilogram seed, 10-kilogram Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 10-kilogram Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer for cultivation of the high yielding variety of Aman.

Six varieties of high yielding Aman paddy seed were distributed among the farmers. The varieties are BRRI-49, BRRI-51, BRRI-52, BRRI-71, BRRI-75 and BRRI-87.

Training officer of DAE Zakia Sultana said the incentives were disbursed for increasing food production. The farmers who have comparatively high land to avert natural calamity got the incentive to ensure production.
