City AL leader Arshad Ali passes away

Former vice-president of greater Uttara Thana Awami League (AL) and incumbent advisory council member of Uttarkhan Thana unit of the party Md Arshad Ali Bepari passed away while undergoing treatment at a city hospital on Monday night.

“My elder brother (Arshad) breathed his last around 9.30 pm at a hospital in the city on Monday at the age of 76,” Arshad’s younger brother Md Abdur Rahim Bepari told BSS on Tuesday.

He left behind his wife, three sons and a daughter and a host of relatives, political fellows and admirers to mourn his death, Rahim said.

According to his brother Arshad was suffering from asthma and other old-age complications.

He was laid to eternal rest at family graveyard in Knachknura Karimerbagh area in the city’s Uttarkhan area following namaz-e-janaza at 11am Knachknura High School ground today, said Uttarkhan Union AL General Secretary Md Atiqur Rahman Milan.

Lawmaker from Dhaka-18 constituency Md Habib Hasan, Dhaka North City AL Vice President Md Nazim Uddin and Liberation War Affairs Secretary Bir Muktijoddha SM Tofazzal Hossain and Uttarkhan Thana AL President Md Kamal Uddin joined the funeral prayers of Arshad, among others.
