Today is the 63rd birth anniversary of Ekushey Padaka-winning musician Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan.
To mark the day, Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan Sangeet Foundation is organising a virtual event featuring musical soiree and discussion at 8:00pm.
On the other hand, Ustad Aashish Khan, poet Alfred Khokon, Professor Rinat Fouzi and Monirul Islam will attend the discussion.
Born on July 6 in 1958, Shahadat Hossain Khan was a Bangladeshi musician. He was the only son of Ustad Abed Hossain Khan. He came from a family of notable musicians of the sub-continent. He is the grandson of Ustad Ayet Ali Khan (the youngest brother of Ustad Allauddin Khan), and nephew of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, and Ustad Bahadur Khan.
He obtained the degree Vadya Alankar in music from Ali Akbar College of Music, California, USA. He had an M.A. in History from Dhaka University. He worked on music with Grand Union Orchestra based in UK.
For his contribution in the field of music, Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan received Ekushey Padak in 1994.
The musician died on 28 November 2020 due to COVID-19 at a hospital in Dhaka.
