Prof Abdul Halim new IER director at DU

Prof Dr Md Abdul Halim has been appointed as Director of the Institute of Education and Research (IER) of Dhaka University (DU).

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman gave him the appointment.  He took charge of his office on June 30, 2021, said a press release.

Dr Halim joined DU in 1997 as a lecturer. Before joining DU, he served several years in the government and non-government organisations.  He obtained his BSc, MSc and MEd degrees securing first class from the university. 

Later, he completed his PhD degree with ICCR scholarship from the MS University of Baroda in India.

Dr Halim is an educational consultant with substantial experience in teaching, research, curriculum development, assessment and educational resource development for primary, secondary education and tertiary education. He has worked as an educational consultant at national and international organisations like NCTB, Planning Ministry, Ministry of Education, Asian development Bank, World Bank, Plan Bangladesh etc.

Dr Halim has developed and evaluated remarkable numbers of textbooks, teachers’ edition, teachers’ guide, module as well as training manual.  He also published a lot of research articles on education and mathematics in renowned national and international journals.
