CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) president Mahbubul Alam urged the government to keep open the export-related sectors and their activities during the strict lockdown.
He also requested to keep all the organisations related to the Chattogram port open to facilitate export and import trading.The CCCI president in a statement on Saturday, however, welcomed the lockdown imposed by the government to arrest the rapid spread of the corona pandemic.
“The economy of the country has been passing a crucial time. So, it is important to keep the export sector out of the purview of lockdown,” the business leader observed.
He stressed keeping the supply chain of the imported essential commodities uninterrupted to avert any sort of supply shortage in the country.
“The government also should consider the matter of keeping the country’s premier seaport operational round-the-clock as the bilateral relationship between the trading countries is very important,” he said.
CCCI president said “So, the port activities will have to be kept operational while the related government, non-government, autonomous and financial organisations are open during the lockdown period.”
He called upon the authorities concerned to include the issues in the gazette notification for the sake of the country.
