Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday urged two city corporations and Dhaka Metropolitan Police to take a tough line against those who are driving easy-bikes and battery-powered rickshaws breaching the country’s law.

“Two Dhaka city corporations and Dhaka Metropolitan Police should take measures against easy-bike and battery-powered rickshaw drivers,” he said.

Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, said this while addressing a meeting of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority in the capital.

The minister joined the meeting virtually from his official residence on parliament premises. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy also took part in the event virtually.

Quader urged the authorities concerned not to dig up roads indiscriminately under two city corporations.
