Twenty-six people died of coronavirus infections and 1,504 new cases were detected during the last 24 hours till Friday morning.
According to data of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 12,310 with 26 new deaths. The total death rate stands at 1.56 percent.Some 1,504 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, raising the total number to 7,86,698. The daily infection rate has stood at 8.22 percent in the last 24 hours.
Some 1,529 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 7,29,039 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 92.67 percent.
The DGHS said 13.58 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 8.22 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.
A total of 18,294 samples, out of 18,399 collected, were tested at 482 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 57,93,177 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.
Both infections and deaths from coronavirus started to decline from the first week of July last year and the fall continued till the first week of March this year.However, the numbers started rising further from March 10. Highest 7,626 cases were reported on April 7 and record 112 deaths were registered on April 19.
Following a fresh surge in both infections and deaths from the deadly pathogen, the government enforced a lockdown which has been extended until May 23 further.
