Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said actually the borders between Bangladesh and India have remained shut except the movement of goods-laden vehicles.

“Only goods are being transported through the borders with India. Actually the borders have been kept closed in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus,” he said.

Hasan, also the Awami League joint general secretary, made the statements after emerging from an emergency meeting of Journalist Welfare Trust at his Secretariat office in the capital.

The AL spokesperson said no one can go to India and nobody can enter Bangladesh again as the borders with India is not functioning actually.

Replying to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remarks about closing the borders with India, Hasan said Fakhrul has asked to stop the transportation of goods-laden vehicles so that country suffers a product crisis.
