Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed party leaders and activists to help farmers harvest their Boro paddy due to labour crisis amid the countrywide lockdown.

“I hope, Krishak League would standby the farmers in harvesting Boro paddy. After harvesting the paddy, crops should be delivered to the farmer’s houses if necessary,” Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said quoting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remark while virtually attending a discussion meeting marking the 49th founding anniversary of Krishak League from his official residence on parliament premises in the capital.

During the first wave of coronavirus pandemic, leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Jubo League, Swechchasebak League, Krishak League and other associate bodies of the Awami League joined their hand for harvesting paddy to relieve farmers of the labour crisis. Mentioning that country has been hit by the second wave of coronavirus, the AL spokesperson said all the associate bodies have the responsibility alongside the members of Krishak League.

“Like the previous year, Krishak League along with the leaders and activists of Awami League and it’s all the associate bodies will come forward to join hand for paddy harvesting. Mentioning that prime minister has given instruction to him during the conversation between them on Sunday, the minister said, “I am just conveying the instruction to you in this regard.”

Quader also urged the leaders and activists of Krishak League to dedicate their lives for the welfare of the farmers.
