E-commerce companies need to take stickers and certificates from

e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) for emergency movement during the lockdown.

After the directives from the Ministry of Commerce and ICT Division, the e-CAB on Saturday urged its member companies to collect and place the stickers in their vehicles.

The measures have been taken to help law enforcers identify genuine e-commerce staff during lockdown for emergency movement.

A countrywide lockdown is currently in place to prevent the surge of coronavirus infections.

The decision on stickers came amid growing concerns that some people were pretending to be e-commerce staff to avoid lockdown restrictions.

The trade body will send the list of its affiliated companies to the local administration through Cabinet Division, Ministry of Commerce, Dhaka Metropolitan               Police (DMP) and ICT Division to ensure transparency in the e-commerce business.

e-CAB will not take the responsibility of any e-commerce staff who does not have e-CAB stickers and certificates, said a statement.

The e-commerce companies can request for stickers and certificates through online application at emergency.e-cab.net.

Earlier in April, the commerce ministry issued a guideline on operation of e-commerce companies during the lockdown, extending service time up to 12.00 midnight.

In a letter, the ministry authorised the e-CAB to issue stickers to e-commerce companies’ delivery personnel and vehicles for the lockdown-time movement.

The e-commerce businesses in Bangladesh saw around 166 percent growth in 2020 and the market size is expected to reach $3 billion by 2023.
