Police arrested four members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for their alleged involvement in extortion in the capital's Hatirjheel area.
Two more RAB men, who are also allegedly involved in the crime, remained still on the run and police were looking for them.The arrested RAB men used to abduct people and extort money from them in exchange of their release, police said.
The arrestees have already been handed over to their force, police said.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin on Friday told that he heard about the arrest.
He said they will take legal action against them if the incident is true.
Dhaka Metropolitan Commissioner Shafiqul Islam also confirmed the arrest.
A case was filed in this connection.
