Bangladesh embassy in Kuwait holds discussion on 50yrs of independence

The embassy of Bangladesh in Kuwait organised a virtual discussion on 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence on Sunday.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal joined online the event titled “Golden Jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh: A thriving Nation,” says a finance ministry relese. 

Around 30 participants including ambassadors in Kuwait, Bangladesh ambassadors and high commissioner abroad, senior government official, eminent personalities and Bangladesh community members in Kuwait joined it.  Ambassador Ali Sulaiman Al Sayeed,      

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, the State of Kuwait was the Guest of Honour and former central bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman, was the key note speaker on that discussion session.

Major General Md Ashikuzzaman, ambassador of Bangladesh in Kuwait moderated the discussion session.

In his speech, the finance minister paid deep homage to the Father of the Nation, his family and three million martyrs, two hundred thousand women, and all the freedom fighters for their extraordinary contributions and great sacrifices during the Liberation War in 1971.

He highlighted the development of Bangladesh made under the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Kamal also thanked all the distinguished guests for their active participation and valuable remarks. He invited the foreign guests to visit Bangladesh on their convenient time.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and State Minister Shahriar Alam sent video message at the event. 

In his keynote, Dr. Atiur Rahman stated the significance of golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh as well as the foreign policy and relationship between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

He highlighted the contribution of Kuwait in Bangladesh’s socio economic development through Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

He also focused the economic development, graduation of Bangladesh from LDC to developing country and recent development in various sector of Bangladesh.

 In the open forum segment of the discussion session, the ambassadors of India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal in Kuwait, Deputy Chief of Mission of Senegal and Yemen in Kuwait conveyed their heartfelt greetings and warm felicitation on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.
