13 gold bars seized in Jashore

JASHORE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 13 gold bars, weighing 4.5 kilogram, from a passenger bus in Bahadurpur area of the district and arrested two people in this connection on Saturday night.

The arrestees are identified as Hossain Miji, 35, son of Gani Miji, hailing from Hogladangi village of Rajbari and Akter Hossain Mandal, 30, son of Bahadur Mandal, from Khalkhola village in Baliakandi upazila.

Jashore BGB-49 Battalion Commander Lt Col Selim Reza said, on secrete information, a team of BGB conducted a raid at the Benapole-bound passenger bus of ‘Fem Paribahan’ from Shariatpur on Jashore-Magura highway and recovered the smuggled gold bars, worth Tk 3.18 crore, from hidden in their shoes and arrested them.
