Missions abroad celebrate the day

Bangladesh missions abroad celebrated the 101st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day-2021 on Wednesday amid great festivities and enthusiasm.

On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the vivacious leader of the Bengali nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bengali of all times, was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of Gopalganj sub-division, which is now a district.

The theme of this year’s birthday of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day is “Bangabandhur Janmadin, Shishur Ridoy Hok Rangin” (Let children’s lives become more colourful on Bangabandhu’s birthday).

In observance of the day, the Bangladesh missions chalked out elaborate programmes which include placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and hoisting of national flags.

Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi celebrated the birth anniversary and National Children’s Day in a befitting manner.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing celebrated the birthday and National Children’s Day amid festivities.

Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam celebrated the birth anniversary and inaugurated a booklet titled “Historic 7th March Speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman - World’s Documentary Heritage”, which was translated into Vietnamese language. 

In Brunei, the 101st birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children's Day was celebrated in a befitting manner. The day’s programme started with ceremonial hoisting of the national flag. The mission celebrated the day with kids with autism. In the evening, the high commission arranged children’s painting competition.

Besides, the day was observed at various missions at Washington DC, Moscow, Manila, Islamabad, Riyadh, Doha, Berlin, Manama, Rome, Stockholm, Tripoli, Abuja, Yangon, Hanoi, Colombo, Kathmandu, Thimphu, Athens, Hague, Deputy High Commission in Mumbai and Kolkata, Assistant High Commissions in Manchester, Birmingham, Bangladesh Consulate General in New York, Sydney, Istanbul and Kunming.
