President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking his 101st birth anniversary and National Children’s Day-2021.

Both the President and Prime Minister paid homage by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bangalee of all times, in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the morning.

After placing the wreath, they stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the country’s founding father while the bugle played the last post.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force gave an honour guard on the occasion.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offered Fateha and joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

Prayers were also offered for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country as well as the nation.

Earlier on arrival of President on Dhanmondi 32 number premises, the President was received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain were present at that time.
