Deaths from coronavirus have declined while infections risen in the country over the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
The Covid-19 daily infection rate has dropped further to 7.68 percent while the country saw 11 more deaths during this time, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statistics.During the same period, 1,865 people tested positive for Covid-19. The number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 562,752 in the country, said the DGHS
Despite the lower infection rate, the DGHS statistics indicate that on Wednesday Bangladesh recorded the highest number of cases
detected in a single day in the past three months.
The infection rate climbed up to 9.48 percent on Monday, the highest since 21 December when the rate was 9.38 percent. But it decreased down to 8.29 percent on Tuesday.
DGHS also reported that the death rate still stands at 1.53 percent. The death toll from the coronavirus now stands at 8,608 in the country.
Among the victims of last 24 hours, eight were male and three were women. Eight of them hailed from Dhaka while one each from Chattogram, Khulna and Sylhet division.Meanwhile, 24,481 samples were tested in 219 labs across the country in the past 24 hours while a total of 4,328,269 samples have been tested so far in the country.
DGHS said 1,510 more patients recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 515,989 with a 91.69% recovery rate.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the same year in the country.
