No road in the capital will remain closed during observance of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of the country.

But the vehicular movement will come under control in some roads at the time of travels of foreign guests and Very Important Persons (VIP) of our country.

Iftekharul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (media and public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said this on Wednesday.

“The DMP did not say that the roads would remain off during the observance of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of the country,”

the police officer said.

“The DMP requested the city dwellers to leave their residences with sufficient time to reach their destinations as the vehicles might get stuck in jam in some roads where the foreign dignitaries and the VIPs of our country would move,” he said.

The police officer said the vehicles are having problems to move in most of the roads for the ongoing developmental work, which has also created difficulties in traffic management.

The DMP has requested the city dwellers to assist policemen to keep up discipline in the roads and avert the traffic jam.
