Two arrested with 30,100 Yaba pills

CHATTOGRAM: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two drug peddlers with 30,100 pieces of Yaba tablets from Patiya upazila in the district early Tuesday.

 The arrestees were identified as Md Nurul Alam, 26, son of late Md Belal, and Md Kaiser Uddin, 20, son of Nurul Islam of Kutupalong area at Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.

 Assistant Director (AD-Media) Nurul Afsar of Rab-7 said on information, they set a check-post at Patiya Bypass Road under Patiya upazila at 12:10am.

 They signalled a Chattogram-bound pick-up van to stop at the check-post. But, the pick-up van driver tried to flee leaving the vehicle at the check-post, he said.

 The Rab-men arrested the driver Nurul Alam and Kaiser after a chase, said the officer.  Later, a total of 30,100 pieces of Yaba pill kept tactfully inside the spare-wheel of the vehicle were recovered.

In the primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were involved with the drug peddling for long, he said.
