Six people including two women were killed in separate road mishaps in four districts on Friday.
In Panchagarh, two people were killed after a tractor turned turtle in Kamalapur area at Dhakkamara union of Sadar upazila in the district on early Friday.The victims were identified as tractor driver Muktarul Islam, 30 and his helper Abdur Rahman, 32, both of them hailing from Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon. Dr Atahar Ali Sddique, said the Thakurgaon-bound tractor from Panchagarh lost control and overturned at 3:00 am in the area.
In Jashore, two workers were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and an easy-bike in Abhaynagar upazila in the district on Friday morning. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. They were coal workers at Nawapara seaport in Abhaynagar.
A Jashore-bound passenger bus from Khulna collided with the easy-bike carrying the victims at 9:00 am, leaving seven men including the easy-bike driver injured, said Mahmud Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Abhaynagar highway police outpost. The injured were taken to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared two of them dead, he said.
In Sirajganj, a 50-year-old woman died after being hit by a speeding truck while crossing the road in the Hiatikumlur area of Solonga union in the early hours of Friday. The deceased Khodeja Begum was wife of Abdur Rajjak of Arsongari village in Bogra’s Sherpur.
Hatikumrul Highway Police Officer in Charge Shahjahan Ali said that Khodeja Begum was crossing the road in front of Atia Hotel with her son around 12.15 am when the truck drove into her.
In Chattogram, a woman named Mongkarai Tripura, 40, wife of Padma Tripura was killed in a road accident in Sonaichhari area under Sitakunda upazila in the district on Friday morning. Officer in-Charge (OC) Md Alamgir Hossain of Highway Police Bara Awlia Station said the accident occurred when a pick-up van knocked the woman at the Sonaichhari around 10:00 pm and left her dead on the spot.
