TK 100cr worth of banned nets seized in Munshiganj

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) on Tuesday conducted several drives and seized 3.34 crore meters of banned fishing nets worth around Tk 100.20 crore from 10 net producing factories in Munshiganj.

The BCG also arrested 19 workers and owners of the factories, said a press release.

The factories which were raided are Tonmoy Fishing Net Industries Ltd, Joynal Fishing Net Ltd, Rahim Fishing Net Ltd,  Joynal Fishing Net Industry, Sumon Fishing Net Industry, Bacchu Syal Fishing Net Industry, Manik Fishing Net Industry, Khokon Fishing Net Industry, M/S Talukder Fishing Net Industry and Akota Fishing Net Industry.

The factories are located at Firingi Bazar, Gushaibagh, Durgabari and Bastohara areas of Munshiganj Sadar. Lieutenant M Ashmadul, Station Officer of the BCG Pagla, led the drive while Senior Fisheries Officer Tipu Sultan and Executive Magistrate Shihabul Arif were present.
