136 demonstrations of fish cultivation held in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR: Fisheries Department here has set up 136 demonstration fish cultivation with a view to increasing fish production in the district in the fiscal 2019-2020.

According to District Fisheries Office sources as part of the National Agriculture Technology Project (NATP) phase-2 the demonstration fish cultivation has been taken in farmers level, reports BSS.

The office said a total of 2720 farmers came under the subsidised programme.

A total of 20 fish farmers got benefited from a demonstration fish cultivation programme.

The office said under the programme farmers got fish fries and fish food free of cost. Besides 2720 farmers got training on fish cultivation.

The office said farmers cultivated variety fish like Pangas, Telapiya, Carp and Pabda.

Senior Fisheries Officer, Mamotazunnesa said each group comprising 20 farmers get training twice in a year on fish cultivation.

A beneficiary at village Darihamidpur in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, Ambiatun Nesa told the agency that he cultivated local variety fish with the assistance of Fisheries Department.

She said the fishes are growing well and I expect a good profit from the fish cultivation.

District Fisheries Officer, D Kaisir Mohammad Moinul Hasan said the aim of the project is to increase fish cultivation.
