Govt plans to set up Wazed Miah Hi-Tech Park

The government has planned to develop a hi-tech park in Rangpur naming it after eminent scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s late husband Dr MA Wazed Miah.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak came up with the information while addressing a meeting virtually on Tuesday, marking the 80th birthday of the eminent scientist. 

He said the ICT Division has proposed to develop the park with a budget of Tk 1.6 billion in order to remember his contribution to expanding science and technology throughout the country.

He also expressed his gratitude to the premier for approving an agriculture university in Natore which will also be named after Dr MA Wazed Miah.

“The university will be a centre of excellence for scientific research,” he said.

ICT Division Additional Secretary Rina Parveen made keynote presentation while Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam presided over the session.
