Corona deaths, infections decline

The rates of daily coronavirus infection and death are declining while the recovery rate has been increasing across the country.

Eight more coronavirus infected patients died and 305 cases were detected in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning. With the fresh deaths, the death toll rose to 8,190 in the country.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 305 new cases were detected in the country in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday, raising the total number to 5,37,770.     

Some 417 more patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 4,82,841.

The DGHS data said the coronavirus death rate has stood at 1.52 percent. On the other hand, the recovery rate has reached 89.79 percent, it added.

The health directorate said 14.39 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 2.51 percent

samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 11,935 samples, out of 12,135 collected, were tested at 206 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 37,36,608 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
