Awami League is set to start sale of nomination forms to intending party candidates ahead of the upcoming fourth phase elections to 56 municipalities.
The ruling party will start its nomination forms distribution from today and it would continue till January 11.Within the period aspirants would be able to collect and submit nomination forms at the Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office, a press release signed by AL office secretary Biplab Barua said on Monday.
Aspirants those who are recommended by their own municipality, upazila and district Awami League committees would be able to collect party nomination forms.
Earlier, on January 3, Election Commission announced poll schedule of fourth phase elections to 56 municipalities of different districts by setting the voting day on February 14.
According to the schedule, last date for submitting nomination papers is January 16, date of nomination paper scrutiny is January 19, and the last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 26.
Of the 56 municipalities, elections to 31 municipalities will be held through using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and rest with traditional ballot papers.
Twenty-four municipalities went to polls on December 28 in first phase. All the elections in the first phase were held using EVMs.A total of 62 municipalities would go to vote in the second phase on January 15. Of the 62 municipalities, election of 30 municipalities would be held through EVMs and rest with traditional ballot papers.
Other than that, 64 municipalities will go for voting in third phase on January 30.
