25 poor fishermen get boats in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Some 25 marginalised fishermen in Rajshahi were given boats aimed at improving their living and livelihood condition after the best uses of the boats in fishing in the Padma River.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) provided the boats to mark the Mujib Borsho-2020, birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, at a function held at T-groin area besides the Padma River bank here on Tuesday.

BGB Director General Maj Gen Shafinul Islam accompanied by Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and other high officials distributed the boats and other accessories among the fishermen.

BGB Regional Commander Brig Gen Kaiser Hassan Malik, Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Abu Kalam Siddique, BGB Sector Commander Col Tuhin Masud, Battalion Commander Lt Col Ferdous Ziauddin Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil and Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain were present on the occasion, reports BSS.
