Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tazul Islam on Sunday said that the government will establish mini fire station at all wards of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
In the first phase, the government will set up mini-fire stations at 36 wards, he said, adding that the service will be expanded to the rest of the wards later with the support of the Denmark government.The minister came up with the statements while talking to reporters after emerging from a meeting with Danish ambassador to Bangladesh Winnie Estrup Petersen at his office. LGRD Minister Tazul said that the Danish government will train up the firemen and finance 85 percent of the total construction cost of the stations. The ministry has signed a deal with the Danish government in this regard.
Tazul also said that the Danish ambassador has shown an interest in green energy and waste management system of the country.
“The government will sign more contracts with foreign companies on the production of energy from waste. Many foreign companies are interested in it. Whoever comes to sign the deal, they have to face competition. We will sign contract with them, protecting our national interest,” he said. The Danish government is also keen to invest more in the project of Dhaka WASA like Saidabad Water Treatment Phase-3 and Padma (Jashaldia) Water Treatment Project, added the minister.
