Lawmaker AKM Shamim Osman on Friday said a vested quarter is trying to turn Bangladesh into a war-ravaged country like Afghanistan.

He made the remark while addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Baitun Noor Jame Mosque in Siddhirganj’s Purba Mijmiji Para before the Jummah prayer.

Shamim Osman said, “An evil force is conspiring home and abroad to destabilise the country. We have to prevent them. We have to work with good people to take the society forward.”

“We want to form ward-based panchayat committee in every ward so that good people can protest against unjust activities. Instead of considering political identities, we will bring all good people together,” he added.

Narayanganj District Council Chairman Md Anwar Hossain, Madaninagar Madrasa’s Muhtamim Mufti Fayzullah Sandeepi, President of Awami League’s Siddhirganj unit Md Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary Haji Yasin Mia, Narayanganj City Corporation’s Panel Mayor Motiur Rahman Moti and Councilor Omar Faruk, among others, were also present on the occasion.
