National Disability Day observed in Madaripur

MADARIPUR: The 22nd National Disability Day was observed in the district on Thursday as elsewhere in the country to bring the persons with disability under the mainstream of development of the society.

This year’s theme of the day is: “Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post Covid-19 world”.

Marking the day, the district administration and Jatiya Protibandhi Sheba O Shahazzo Kendra, Madaripur distributed the wheel chairs, hearing aid and other helpful materials to the persons with disability at a function held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) in the morning.

DC Dr Rahima Khatun attended the function as the chief guest while Md Abbas Uddin, Assistant Director, District Social Service office presided over the function.

Speaking on the occasion DC Rahima Khatun said, “People with disabilities are an inseparable part of our society. They would have to be developed as worthy citizens by providing them withal facilities, including treatment, education and training.”
