Plaintiff gets life term, accused acquitted

BARGUNA: A court here on Sunday acquitted all the accused in a rape case filed in 2015 and sentenced the plaintiff to life in jail.

The convict is Md Emadul Haque, father of the rape victim, resident of Patharghata upazila. He was also the No-4 plaintiff in the case.

Judge Md Hafizur Rahman of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal pronounced the order. The court also fined the convict Tk 50,000.

Two acquitted accused are Mohsin and Moazzem, residents of same upazila.

According to case statement the two acquitted accused gang-raped a tenth grader while she went out from her house for responding the call of nature at about 11.30pm on February 17 in 2015.

Victim’s mother said she found her girl abandoned in an orchard nearby their house on next morning and rescued her, reads the statement.

Later, victim’s mother lodged a case with the tribunal on February 19, 2015.
