Number of deaths, cases mark downward trend

The number of deaths from coronavirus and new infection cases marked downward trend in the recent days.

Fourteen more people died of coronavirus while 1,586 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours till 8am on Friday morning.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), some 1,533 coronavirus infected patients have made recovery from the disease in a day, raising the total number to 3,12,065.

“The recovery rate from Covid-19 disease has reached 78.72 percent in the country,” it said.

The DGHS said the number of coronavirus infection cases has reached 3,96,413 with the latest 1,586 infection cases detected in the last 24 hours.It said the death toll from Covid-19 disease has risen to 5,761 and the total death rate stands at 1.45 percent in the country.

The health directorate said detection of new cases has decreased while the number of recovery cases has been increasing across the country.

A total of 14,119 samples, out of 13,857 collected, were tested at 110 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 22,35,488 samples have been tested to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The DGHS said 17.73 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus and 1.45 percent patients have died. Some 11.23 percent samples have been diagnosed with the disease in a day.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 while the first death was recorded on March 18 in the country.
