The countdown to the celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) kicked off through a ceremony held at BAF Shaheen Hall in the capital on Monday.
The air force will celebrate its 50th founding anniversary on September 28 next year.Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque inaugurated the countdown ceremony as the chief guest. He also unveiled two commemorative stamps at the programme.
Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, among others, were present at the function.
In his speech, the minister said that the initiative taken by the BAF would undoubtedly inspire the new generation with the spirit of the Liberation War.
The air force will carry out various activities throughout the year to celebrate its golden jubilee.
The BAF started its journey at Dimapur in India on September 28, 1971 as ‘Kilo Flight’ with one Otter aircraft, one Dakota aircraft and one Allouette helicopter.
