Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said perpetrators of conspiracies want to shut the path of advancement of the country through spreading poison of communalism.

“Perpetrators of conspiracies want to shut the path of advancement of the country through spreading poison of communalism,” he said.

The road transport and bridges minister made the comment while addressing a virtual discussion connected from his official residence in the capital marking the National Mourning Day organised by Dhaka South City Corporation.

Obaidul Quader, also Awami League general secretary, also said the anti-development nexus is still active in the country.

“But building a prosperous country would continue as long as Sheikh Hasina is there,” he said.

Referring to the killing of operation clean heart during the 2002-2003 regime of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Quader said uttering word on human rights does not suit them as BNP had killed 97 persons during its regime.

“Even it does not suit them as they had imposed indemnity ordinance to save the killer of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said.

The senior leader of the ruling party said BNP’s tradition is to retain friendship with killers, give approval of murdering and carry out killing and terrorism-based politics.

“But they speak over corruption but Bangladesh Nationalist Party is the synonym of corruption,” he said.

DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh presided over the meeting while Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam, Dhaka South Unit Awami League president Abu Ahmed Mannafi and its general secretary Humayun Kabir, among others, spoke in the programme.
