Faridpur Zila Parishad chairman dies of Covid-19

Faridpur Zila Parishad chairman Md Lokman Hossain Mridha, also freedom fighter, died of Coronavirus at a hospital in the capital on Friday. He was 76.

He breathed his last at Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital at around 11:00am.

Lokman Hossain, who was also the vice president of Faridpur district unit of Awami League, left behind wife, four sons, a daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

Lokman’s personal secretary Rezaul Karim Mithu said the AL leader was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on June 22 and tested positive for coronavirus the next day.

Later on June 24, Lokman was shifted to the hospital in the capital. He was put under ventilation on Thursday as his condition deteriorated, he said. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at his death.

 In a condolence message, the premier prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

LGRD Minister Md Tajul Islam and Faridpur-2 lawmaker Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, also the deputy leader of the Parliament, among others expressed deep shock at the death of the politician.
