Doctor among three dead, 140 more infected

CHATTOGRAM: Three more corona patients including a doctor died in Chattogram on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Dr Muhidul Hasan, 42, Emergency Medical Officer of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), a 50-year-old woman of Panchlaish, and a 56-year-old woman of Jamal Khan area in the city.

With this, 85 corona affected patients died in Chattogram so far.

The doctor died at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the CMCH at 11:00am while the women at the ICU of Chattogram General Hospital.

CMCH Deputy Director (DD) Dr Aftabul Islam said Dr Muhid was detected as corona positive on May 26 and admitted to the hospital cabin.

“He was shifted to the ICU on Wednesday night with critical condition and he breathed his last on Thursday morning,” said the DD.

With this, a total of 83 doctors detected as corona positive while two of them died and 17 recovered in Chattogram.

On the other hand, three patients including a politician and businessman died with corona symptoms in Chattogram on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Awami League (AL) Chattogram city unit executive member Nurul Alam, AL Mohora ward Convener Md Rafiqul Alam, and Teri Bazar Traders Association Adviser Abdul Mannan.

Besides, 140 more patients were detected as corona positive at the three existing testing centres in Chattogram on Wednesday.

Among the patients, 86 are from the city and 54 from different upazilas in the district.  Chattogram district Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that 530 samples were tested at three labs in Chattogram and 140 of them were found as positive on Wednesday.
