Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Monday asked the DSCC officials to discharge their responsibilities sincerely to avoid termination of employment.

“Do your job properly and serve city dwellers with utmost honesty and dedication,” he said.

Taposh, also a nephew of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, issued a note of caution for the officials saying that they might lose jobs for negligence of duty.

“If anyone is not found at work, he will no more be in service whatever position he holds at DSCC,” he said. The mayor made the remarks while speaking at a meeting on mosquito control activities at DSCC.

Taposh asked the officials to change their mindsets in serving the people.

“Use your skill to ensure the best service for residents,” he said.

Over the anti-mosquito drive, the mayor said the corporation outlined plans to address the situation.

“We will revamp the action plan to control mosquito breeding in the city. We are making action plan putting highest importance on mosquito control. I will not entertain any excuse in executing the plan,” he said.

He said mosquito controllers would work in field level with sincerity while inspectors would carry out their duty properly.

“If larvicide is sprayed properly, half of our plan will be executed,” he said.

The mayor said that the DSCC would form committees under the leadership of health officers with zonal executive officers to address the mosquito menace.

“The committee will take steps based on the reports from field level observation and implement it. The committee also accepts suggestions from ward councillors,” he added.
