Deer rescued in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT: A deer, rescued from Sonatala village in Sharankhola upazila, was released in the Sundarbans on Thursday, reports UNB.

Joynul Abedin, assistant forest conservator of Sharankhola range, said local people caught the deer from the village in the afternoon.

It was a barking deer, a species native to South and Southeast Asia, he said.

It is believed that, the deer aged about five to six years, came to the locality from the Sundarbans through the Bhola river banks.

On information, a forest department team went to the spot and rescued the deer. Later, they released it in Bhola forest camp of the Sundarbans.
