Even though Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) showed their keen interest to host Bangladesh and India at their home, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director and Media and Publication Committee Chairman Jalal Younis said it will be very difficult to tour Sri Lanka amid the threat of the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic.

Jalal also said that they could not meet and discuss anything about the tour to Sri Lanka yet owing to the coronavirus contagion.

“We still have not discussed anything about it. They have said they are ready to host us but we still did not say anything about the series,” said Jalal Younis.

“It is difficult to play the series with the current situation of Sri Lanka and the world as well,” he told on Tuesday.

“BCB will decide about the fate of the tour. We already indefinitely postponed our tours to Pakistan and Ireland due to the COVID-19. BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon will discuss the matter in the board meeting and then the decision will be made. But we are yet to discuss about the matter,” he added.

He also said that the coronavirus situations in the two countries are very different in terms of spread.

“They may want us to tour because their condition is good but the situation in our country is not well,” Jalal said.

“We also have to consider about our protocol. The players have to take preparation and we have to think about our flights as well,” he concluded.
