Ctg transport workers get relief

Chattogram Metropolitan Police and business conglomerate S Alam Group distribute relief materials among transport workers at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Chattogram centre in the city on Sunday.

CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has come forwarded to help the transport workers, who remained workless due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the assistance of business conglomerate S Alam Group.   

CMP Commissioner Md Mahabubor Rahman inaugurated a relief distribution programme for the workers at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Chattogram centre in the city on Sunday.

A total of 3,000 workers will be provided with the food items primarily.

Addressing the programme, CMP Commissioner Mahabubor said the workers remained workless as the vehicles remained off the road in this crisis moment.

“All of them have the earning ability and so that we stood by them and their families,” said the commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner (DC Traffic-North) Md Shahidullah said they handed over relief to two transport workers at the IEB and rest of the reliefs will be sent to doorstep of the workers in the night.

CMP Additional Commissioners SM Mostaque Ahmed Khan, Shyamol Kumar Nath, DC (Traffic Port) Tareq Ahmed, Road Transport Workers Federation Chattogram Zone President Md Musa, General Secretary Oli Ahmed and S Alam Group Chairman’s Personal Secretary Akij Uddin were present at the inauguration programme among others.
