Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that they have decided to give financial aid to the groundsmen and field workers during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
BCB had earlier decided to give financial assistance to non-contracted cricketers and contracted cricketers of the national women’s wing too.Around two hundred groundsmen work for BCB in different grounds across the country while among them one hundred and ten groundsmen are non-contractual and ninety of them have a contract.
Contractual groundsmen receive a salary of 12400 taka per month and non-contractual workers get 11000 taka per month.
BCB President Nazmul Hasan said that they are looking forward to help out the groundsmen as he felt that they are the ones to suffer the most as they have a minimal wage.
“On humanitarian grounds, we will provide financial aid to the groundsmen,” said Nazmul on Thursday.
“At first we gave it (financial assistance) to both contractual and non-contractual cricketers of the women's team and now we will help the scorer and groundsmen as well,” he said.
“We are making a list of them and will help them accordingly. Our groundmen’s salary is minimal and most of them are non-contractual as well. They are not getting anything and will face huge financial difficulty in this moment. Scorers’ salary is less too and we will be helping them as well and give them some financial assistance as well,” he concluded.
