The seven-month-old infant in Kushtia, who was thought to have contracted coronavirus, has tested negative for the deadly virus.

Tapas Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer of Kushtia General Hospital, said on Sunday the report of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirms that the seven-month-old does not have COVID-19.

The IEDCR in its report suggested providing proper treatment to the child.

Earlier on Wednesday, the child who got a fever, cold and cough was admitted to the hospital.

As his condition worsened the next day, the hospital authority took the baby to the isolation unit and sent the nasal and throat swab to IEDCR to check for infection.
