S Korea’s export volume falls 2.9pc in January

SEOUL: South Korea’s export volume fell last month amid the continued global economic slump, central bank data showed Wednesday.

In terms of volume, the outbound shipment fell 2.9 percent in January from a year earlier, after growing 7.7 percent in the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK), reports Xinhua.

The export value declined 9.4 percent last month, keeping a downward trend for the 14th consecutive month.

Export volume for computer, electronic and optical devices, including integrated circuit, gained 16.6 percent in the month, but in terms of value, the shipment reduced 5.0 percent on lower chip price.
