ACC grills CAAB chief engineer, 2 others

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday interrogated three officials of Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) including its chief engineer Sudhendu Bikash Goswami on charges of embezzlement of funds of project and amassing illegal wealth.

A team of ACC led by its director Syed Iqbal Hossain quizzed the three engineers at the commission’s headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha for several hours.

The three CAAB officials are chief engineer Sudhendu Bikash Goswami, supervisor engineer AKM Maksudul Islam and Executive Engineer Md Shariful Isalm.

Earlier, the ACC on February 11 summoned six officials of CAAB including its chief engineer for interrogation over the charges.  The commission will also interrogate the rest of the CAAB officials Executive Engineers Md Shahiduzzamn and Md Mokabbar Ali and Deputy assistant engineer Kazi Bayzid Ahmed on Sunday at the commission.

According to the ACC, chief engineer Sudhendu and others amassed a huge amount of illegal money through irregularities and corruption in maintenance, construction and purchase work, and embezzlement of funds of projects.
