Bangabandhu cricket tournament kicks off at IU

KUSHTIA: Bangabandhu Inter-Department (boys) and Inter-Hall (both boys and girls) Cricket Tournament-2020 kicked off at Islamic University (IU) campus in Kushtia on Sunday.

IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari as the chief guest, inaugurated the tournament at university’s central cricket playground around 11:00 am.

IU treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha was present as the special guest at the function with Pro-VC and Convener of IU Bangabandhu Cricket Tournament Committee Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman in the chair.

Mohammad Sohel, director of IU Physical Education Division conducted the event while acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, Proctor Professor Dr Paresh Chandra Barman, Syndicate member Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Deans, Chairman of various departments, provost of different halls, senior teachers and officials of the university, among others, were also present.

A total 42 teams from different departments and halls are participating in the competition while three women’s team among them participating in the tournament.
