Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said Myanmar must abide by the verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“There is no scope to reject the verdict of the International Court of Justice. Judges have given the verdict unanimously,” he said.

Hasan, also a joint general secretary of Awami League, made the statements at a programme in Rangunia in Chattogram on Saturday. On Thursday, the ICJ ordered Myanmar to protect the Rohingya community.

The information minister said all the confusion of other countries over atrocities by Myanmar on Rohingya people have been cleared up through the verdict of ICJ.

“I hope those countries will keep putting pressure on Myanmar to take back their Rohingya nationals,” he said.

Terming the verdict historic, Hasan said, “Gambia has filed the case in ICJ as Myanmar has committed crimes against humanity, killed innocent child and people, raped mother in front of their children.”

Hasan said ICJ has ordered Myanmar to stop crimes against humanity and ensure sufficient security for Rohingya nationals.
