Coast Guard seizes 2.8 lakh yaba tablets

The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized 2.8 lakh yaba tablets from Marine Drive and Shah Pori Deep areas of the Bay of Bengal in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila on Tuesday.

On secret information, two coast guard teams raided the Marine Drive and Pera Bon area in Shah Pori Deep at about 4:50am and 5:45am respectively.

Sensing the presence of the coastguard, smugglers left two sacks and a jerrycan and fled the spot. Later, 2.8 lakh yaba tablets were found inside the sacks and jerrycan. No drug peddlers were managed to nab.

Coast Guard East Zone media officer Shah Zia confirmed the incident and said the yaba were believed to have been brought from Myanmar for trafficking in different areas of Bangladesh.

The yaba was handed over to Teknaf police station.
