Bangladesh Open University (BOU) on Sunday cancelled all BA examinations and registration of lawmaker Tamanna Nusrat Bubly over her involvement in malpractice during the exam.

The university authority also formed a four-member committee to probe the matter and it has been asked to submit a report within three working days.

The decision to cancel the registration was taken after a meeting with BOU Vice-chancellor Prof MA Mannan in the chair on Sunday. They also decided to send Bubly a show-cause notice asking for an explanation.

Prof MA Mannan said, “She will not be allowed to take part in any examination at the university again.

“The committee will look into the matter and if it finds evidence legal action would be taken against the lawmaker, the proxies and the college authorities.”

The university took the decision after female student Esha who acted as proxy for the MP was caught in the act of taking the exam at Narsingdi Government College centre on Saturday. Bubly, an MP of reserved seat-24 (Narsingdi) and widow of former Narsingdi municipality mayor Lokman Hossain enrolled in Bachelor of Arts (BA) course.

According to the affidavits, submitted by Bubly to the Election Commission (EC) before the 11th national elections, she has passed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations.
