Organized by FOCUS Bangladesh, ‘4th Paint Your Dream’, a two-day long art exhibition of nearly 400 children from six countries including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, China, Thailand and Sri Lanka, will kick off today at Bangladesh Club, Uttara, Dhaka. The exhibition will also feature a day-long workshop on painting tomorrow at the same place. In the exhibition 400 children from 3 age groups are participating. The exhibition and prize giving ceremony of group A (from 4-7 years) and group C (from 12-15 years) will be held in the morning with the presence of Khan Mohammad Bilal, an additional secretary, as the chief guest. The exhibition and prize giving ceremony of group B (from 8-11 years) will be held in the evening where honorable mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Md. Atiqul Islam will grace the occasion along with eminent artist Hamiduzzaman Khan.
When contacted, Md. Atiqul Islam said about the exhibition, “Art plays an important role in the socialization process of children. Through this children can express their feelings forgetting the barriers created by their language, race and religion. It indicates the mindset of a child. It may be his aim in life, his memories or his dream. Participating in this type of international events encourage a child to learn about other cultures and improve their social viewpoint. However if a child loves to paint or draw, it does not mean that he must be an artist in the future --- this is not always true. Rather, it expands their option and helps them to select their future goal.”He went on to say, “Art includes a diverse range of human activities that is helpful in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the author's imaginative, conceptual ideas, or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. Other activities related to the production of works of art include the criticism of art, the study of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art. The three classical branches of art are painting, sculpture and architecture. Painting is such a diverse media through which one can express their mindset to one another. Children are the future of our country and I personally think that it is necessary for them to express themselves.”
The exhibition has been organized by FOCUS Bangladesh and coordinated by Md. Kauser Hossain, founder of FOCUS Bangladesh and Country Leader of IWS Bangladesh. He shared, “Nowadays, art is not valued so much in our society whereas it is one of the fundamental aspects of the mental development and socialization process of the children. They are the future and representatives of our country. FOCUS Bangladesh is organizing these types of events to help the children develop their socialization skills.”
This is the fourth edition of this initiative which is organized every year by FOCUS Bangladesh for the children. The exhibition will come to an end tomorrow.
