The elite Rapid Action Battallion (RAB) arrested at least 142 people from an unauthorised casino in Fakirerpool area of the capital on Wednesday.Casino owner Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan, also organising secretary of Jubo League’s Dhaka South Unit, was also arrested from his Gulshan residence around 7:30pm.A RAB team, led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam, cordoned off Khaled’s residence and arrested him.

Besides, law enforcers were carrying out a massive hunt for some Jubo League leaders on charges of running the unauthorised casino.RAB members raided the casino named “Young Men’s Club’ and arrested 142 people from there. Sources said the casino belongs to Jubo League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan.The striking team also seized a huge quantity of alcohol and money from there.

RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam told the media, “About 142 people, including two women, have been detained from the scene.”“Tk 24.29 lakh and a large number of gambling equipments were seized from the club and an operation is still on,” he added.RAB (media wing) Deputy Director Mizanur Rahman said RAB members started the operation around 5:30pm.

Earlier, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her anger at a meeting over various allegations against some Jubo League leaders, including Khaled.
