Missing baby found alive in bag

CHATTOGRAM: A 40-day-old baby girl was found alive in a bag in the city’s Kazir Dewri area two hours after she went missing on Monday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin of Kotwali police station said a street urchin informed on-duty cops of having sound of cry from a bag adjoining to boundary of Chattogram Circuit House in the Kazir Dewri area.  

On information, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hamidul Islam and three other policemen rescued the baby and brought to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH),” he said.

Earlier, parents of the baby Manik Chakrabartya and Happy Chakrabartya lodged complaint of missing of their baby from residence in Mehedibag area through national help line around 12.00noon.

Police Inspector (Investigation) Reaz Uddin Chowdhury of concerned Chawk Bazar police station said they instantly visited the place of occurrence.

However, after hearing about recovery of a baby girl, they went to the CMCH with the parents who identified their baby there, he said.
