5 adulterated liquor producers arrested in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested five members of a gang involved in producing and selling of adulterated liquor from different areas of the city on Tuesday night.  

The arrestees were identified as Md Nasim, 23, Md Ikramul Hoque, 32, Swapan Paul, 51, Md Imran Faisal, 21, and Jahedur Rahman Arju, 30. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC-West) Faruque Ul Hoque of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) disclosed these at a press conference at CMP Conference Room on Wednesday.

DC Faruq said three youths died and another fell sick after taking adulterated liquor at Biswa Colony under Akbar Shah police station on August 13.   

Police had been working to find out the reason behind the deaths since the incident, he said.

Acting on the information of sick youth Ujjwal Banik, police arrested Nasim from Kaibolladham Mandir area and recovered a bottle of adulterated wine and raw materials of producing it from his possession, Faruq said.

In the primary interrogation, the arrestee admitted that he had been supplying adulterated liquors for long, he said.
